Privacy Policy

This policy applies to all information collected in our iPhone app, information submitted on our website, and applies to any other devices and platforms on which we may provide you with services. This policy was last updated on 9 February 2019.

Your data is your data

The fundamental position of Intro is that your data is your data. This is extremely important to us. Data that you record in the Intro app is accessible only to you. It stays on your device. It is not accessible to Duncan Babbage, or any other people working for Intro. None of your user-entered or user-synced data—such as your contacts, groups and notes—is transferred off your phone by Intro.

We do not have a copy of your data—not on our servers nor in any other location. Unlike many other "network"  focussed services, we are not creating a graph of your connections with other people. Your data resides on your phone, and is presented to you by the app on your phone. Beyond this, we do not access, retrieve or store this information at all. (Be sure, therefore, that you're backing up your phone using iCloud backups or another method. Since we do not have a copy of your data, we cannot provide you with a copy of your data if you delete the app, or if your phone is lost, stolen or damaged.)

Analytics & support

In Intro 1.6, we have added once more the automatic collection of anonymised information about any occasions where Intro crashes. This information is collected for Intro by the Crashlytics service. No other analytics or tracking is included in Intro.

In the future, the Intro iOS app may invite you to allow us to collect and send to us aggregate statistics, such as the frequency with which users are engaging with various features of the app. We want to understand which parts of the app are valuable to users, so we can focus development efforts, and improve the overall user experience. We may also ask you to allow us to collect crash reports to help improve the app.

If you engage with the in-app support mechanism in Intro, the person supporting you is automatically provided with information about the version of Intro you are running, the iPhone model you have, and the version of iOS you are running.

In future, you may also be invited to share a high level summary of your overall level of use of Intro to the person providing you with support. (For example, the summary might indicate you primarily use the Learn tool, that you have a large number of people in the app, and that have not added any notes to people within Intro.) This information would be statistical only. It would enable us to provide you with a better support experience. This would not include any information about who your contacts are, nor any of the information you have recorded about the links between people, nor the content of your notes or other data.

We invite you to enable push notifications if you engage with our support tool in the iPhone app, so that you can be notified about responses to your queries even when Intro is not running. If you enable notifications in the app, we store a token to send them. We never use notifications for marketing.

Information usage

We do not share your personal information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide Intro's service.

We use an established, market-leading partner to provide our support channel. That partner is currently Smooch.io. They carry this data to us, and this is covered by their own robust privacy policies.

To the extent we have such information, we may share anonymous, aggregate statistics with outside parties, such as:
• The number of active users of Intro.
• How people use Intro to undertake various tasks.
• We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

In the future, we may sell our business to other businesses, or may buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, the user information that we do collect may be among the transferred assets. As stated above, however, your contacts and other user-entered data belongs to you, and is not an asset owned by Intro.

Security

We implement a variety of security measures to help keep your information secure. First and foremost, we do not even hold a copy of your contacts or user-entered data on our servers. Within Intro, the data is secured using appropriate device security. Features of the app that provide access to the internet (support, image search) do so using secure https connections.

Intro displays content from third-party websites when you conduct online image searches. These have their own independent privacy policies, and we have no responsibility or liability for their content or activities. You are responsible to ensure you comply with relevant copyright law with regards to storing of any images.
